چکیده

This paper proposes an affine motion compensated prediction (AMCP) method to predict the complex changes between the successive frames in panoramic video coding. A panoramic video is an image-based rendering (IBR) technique [1] which provides users with a large field of view (e.g. 360 degree) on surrounding dynamic scenes. It includes not only the translational motions but also the non-translational motions, such as zooming and rotation etc. However, the traditional motion compensated prediction is a translational motion compensated prediction (TMCP) which cannot predict non-translational changes between panoramic images accurately. The AMCP can model the nontranslational motion effects of panoramic video accurately by using six motion coefficients which are estimated by Gauss Newton iterative minimization algorithm [2]. Simulated results show that the gain of coding performance is up to about 1.3 dB when using AMCP compared with TMCP in panoramic video coding.

Using Multiple Global Motion Models for IMPRO VED Block-Based Video Coding

A novel motion representation and estimation scheme is presented that leads to improved coding efficiency of blockbased video coders like, e.g., H.263. The proposed scheme is based on motion-compensated prediction from more than one reference frame. The reference pictures are warped or globally motion-compensated versions of the previous frame. Affine motion models are used as warping parameter...

Motion-based object segmentation and estimation using the MDL principle

There are increasing demands for ultralow bit-rate video image transmission. We present a new formulation of moving object segmentation and motion estimation to quantify the potential gain in using object-oriented motion compensation in image sequence coding. Motivated by real-valued parameter estimation required in object-oriented motion-compensated video source coding, a framework motivated b...

3D video coding using redundant-wavelet multihypothesis and motion-compensated temporal filtering

A video coder is presented that combines mesh-based motion-compensated temporal filtering, phase-diversity multihypothesis motion compensation, and an embedded 3D wavelet-coefficient coder. The key contribution of this work is the introduction of the phasediversity multihypothesis paradigm into motion-compensated temporal filtering, which is achieved by deploying temporal filtering in the domai...

Rate-constrained multihypothesis prediction for motion-compensated video compression

This article investigates linearly combined motion-compensated signals for video compression. In particular, we discuss multiple motion-compensated signals that are jointly estimated for efficient prediction and video coding. First, we extend the wide-sense stationary theory of motion-compensated prediction for the case of jointly estimated prediction signals. Our theory suggests that the gain ...

Video codec incorporating block-based multihypothesis motion-compensated prediction

Multi-hypothesis prediction extends motion compensation with one prediction signal to the linear superposition of several motion-compensated prediction signals. These motion-compensated prediction signals are referenced by motion vectors and picture reference parameters. This paper proposes a state-of-the-art video codec based on the ITU-T Recommendation H.263 that incorporates multi-hypothesis...
